5 Must-Have House Cleaning Tools of 2024

Introduction

Cleaning the house up is a task that never really seems to end, but having the right tools can make the actual effort of cleaning a whole lot easier and dare I say, faster. As we move into the year of 2024, these are 5 must-have house cleaning tools we all should be using to ensure we’re keeping our homes crystal clean.

Here are some products us at Wow That’s Clean use in our own homes!

1: O'Cedar EasyWring Spin Mop & Bucket System

O Cedar Spin Bucket System

The holy grail of mops, the O’Cedar EasyWring is one of those tools you’ll find in most cleaning professionals go to tools, and it’s an easy choice. Not only does it feature a removable microfiber mop head, it also features a handless wringing feature that’s activated by pressing your foot on the pedal of the mop bucket. That feature alone saves me tons of time during cleanings and it makes for a less nasty experience considering you won’t need to touch the wet mop head. Overall, the best investment I’ve made in my cleaning journey.

2: Scrub Daddy/Mommy

This lil gal is already seeing some wear and tear but best know she’s cleaned some of the greasiest stoves I’ve ever seen and still has some time in her. This one in particular is the Scrub Mommy, which has the soft sponge material on one side and the flex texture on the other. Both sides provide different purposes seeing as you can use the flex texture to scrub (please note, the flex texture is non-scratch) and flip it over to add some suds to the mix.

I still use Scrub Daddy’s on most of all of my house cleaning runs to pretty much scrub anything. Need the bathroom walls scrubbed? No problem. Need to clear the kitchen sink? Not a problem. Need something that isn’t going to smell like a wet rag after your first couple of washes? Yeah, it’s got your back. Since I’ve found this sponge on TikTok, I haven’t gone back to regular sponges.

3: Microfiber Cloth

Microfiber Cloth is a necessity in efficient and effective cleaning. Thanks to their unique fiber composition, microfiber cloths stand out as one of the most versatile go-to options any cleaner needs. From effortlessly picking up dust and debris to demonstrating an impressive absorption capacity, these cloths ensure lint-free cleaning across different surfaces. The versatility extends far beyond cleaning, seeing as you can use these to clean practically any room in your home. And the best part is, they’re washable.

These are my personal microfiber cloths. I got them at The Home Depot for about $12 for a 24 pack. Just be careful not to dry them, as high heat can damage the delicate fibers. Made that mistake with my first pack of microfiber cloths and now they don’t work as well. I would suggest to air-dry.

4: Gloves

Protecting your hands while cleaning is vital in ensuring good health, and a good pair of gloves can make all the difference. I’ve been using these nitrile gloves I found at Sam’s Club priced at $14 for a 2 pack of 150 count. These fit snuggly into my hand, are designed to be resistant to a range of chemicals usually found while cleaning, plus have a longer shelf life than other glove materials like latex.

The only downside is that these aren’t reusable, as nitrile isn’t really designed to be used again. However, I believe the safety they provide while cleaning far outweigh any cons. In my opinion, a MUST for cleaning.

5: Vacuum

I grew up my whole life using a broom and a dustpan to clean practically anything I have ever needed. That was up until two years ago when I purchased this Hoover Wind Tunnel Tangle Guard Upright Vacuum. I’ve had carpet, I’ve had hardwood floors, and this vacuum does both. It’s lasted me this long, albeit some gradual wear and tear (I take it out of the closet a bit too quick sometimes). It gets my cats hair, it picks up dust, and it sucks up any bread crumbs that would otherwise go missed and it does it quickly.

Now, I chose this vacuum as it suits my needs, and I needed something that would be a more versatile experience considering my home at the time had both carpets and hardwood floors. You can and should find a vacuum that is tailored to your specific needs as you may have other requirements this one in particular may not be able to solve for you. You can use this chart to figure out what type of vacuum may be more suitable for you. Still having trouble? The great people of Reddit have created a Budget Tier List of Recommended Vacuums that are worth checking out.

Conclusion

In conclusion, these are 5 Must-Have House Cleaning Tools for 2024. These are the exact tools I have at home to clean my own home: an O’Cedar Spin Mop and Bucket, Scrub Daddy’s, microfiber cloths and nitrile gloves from The Home Depot, and a Hoover Wind Tunnel Tangle Guard Upright Vacuum. These five things have saved me tons of time and have kept our homes nice and clean.
